An initial post to mark the beginning of the site, using a domain I’ve owned for years but haven’t done anything with. However, I suddenly have a need!
A week ago I started playing with Google’s Flutter, a cross-platform UI toolkit that can produce mobile apps, as well as (eventually) web and desktop apps. I’ve already put together a simple app that displays randomly selected words from the “sight words” booklets provided by my daughter’s school. A sight word is one that the children need to learn to recognise on sight, as they’re common and often follow some of English’s more funky rules that make sounding them out phonetically difficult, if not impossible.
I plan to offer the app on Android and iOS to my school community, and having an associated website for the app is kind of essential. So here we are!
